The vibrancy and clarity of the colors in the center of this  composition are offset by the softer, blending of colors on the piece's perimeter.  I love the unique representation of the center sun and the varied use of texture and hue to create a truly striking work of art. 

Dancer (1955)

Ori had an amazing sense of space and composition.  I am also impressed by his choice of color.  In the majority of his work, you will see muted grays and browns effectively creating a somewhat somber mood. This piece incorporates those colors, but in a more subtle fashion. The gray in the dancer's dress is offset by the bright colors surrounding her. The blues and reds are vibrant and enliven the picture.  Note how the shape of the vase mimics that of the dancer.

 

Death Scene (1948)

This representation of a funeral scene is anything but somber to me.  Though the woman may be grieving, the composition represents hope, in my estimation. Look at the very much alive, thriving tree that seemingly springs forth from the grave! Look at the symbolic birds that hover above the earth. The lively, enervating colors, even faced with a death scene, are inspiring and uplifting.  I love this composition and for his subject. the empathy that Ori felt for his subject.

 Dry Still Life (1955)

This is perhaps my favorite of Ori's works. The unique use of muted colors in this still life is Ori's characteristic style. However, look at the soft pastels and brighter purples in the shadows. The mastery of space and seeming wildness of the subject matter evokes feelings that are more primative than what one usually senses in a still life flower vase. This piece is magical!

 Van Gogh Landscape (1950)

This beautifully creative representation of a lake scene exemplifies Ori's mastery of color and space.  The soft, muted colors characteristic of his work are magnificently incorporated into this breathtaking composition.  The lovely sky and landscape colors are magically mirrored in the vast body of water.

10 1/2" x 13 1/2" Framed.  Artillery fire is superimposed against the bucholic splendor of spring.  World's collide as man's worst side inflicts itself upon nature's best.  A powerful statement.
